The Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia, Andrew Goledzinowski, has joined in the condemnation of Malaysia's judiciary that has followed the decision in the Malaysiakini contempt matter.
He does so despite the position in Australia, where Australian media companies face defamation liability for comments on Facebook , and where Google is considered a publisher that can be sued for defamatory material that appears in its searches.
And, as previously reported on this blog, senior Australian judges feel that Najib Razak's blocking of websites reporting the1 MDB theft was due to "defamatory" publications.
That is not all. Senior judicial officers in Australia have in recent years decided to undermine a decision of the NSW Supreme Court against Berjaya's Vincent Tan.
