The Malaysian Government's long standing opposition to the LGBTIQ movement is clearly described by this headline in the Malay Mail:

pro-LGBT initiative

Despite that unequivocal stance the Australian High Commissioner to Malaysia Andrew Goledzinowski seems determined to challenge the Malaysian Government's opposition to LGBTIQ issues. How his blundering, on behalf of D(a)FT, might promote Australian national interests is hard to see.

Additionally his co-opting BHP Bluescope into his campaign can  harm BHP's business in Malaysia:
