"Agong menasihati Dato Seri Anwar...untuk akur dan menghormati proses-proses perundangan seperti yang termaktub dalam Perlembagaan Perseketuan" : The detail in the Palace statement that seems to have escaped Anwar Ibrahim's supporters

 by Ganesh Sahathevan

Paragraph 4 of the official statement from the Palace with regards Anwar Ibrahim's audience with the Agong is clear, and fatal to Anwar's future as a politician, or at very least any ambition of becoming Prime Minister Of Malaysia:

"Agong menasihati Dato Seri Anwar...untuk akur dan menghormati proses-proses perundangan seperti yang termaktub dalam Perlembagaan Perseketuan"

The import of the paragraph seems to have escaped Anwar Ibrahim's supporters, in Malaysia and elsewhere.

Agong not obliged to "go through" Anwar's documents-Agong is advised by the Prime Minister, not the Leader Of The Opposition

 by Ganesh Sahathevan

As reported by the NST:

Having had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong this morning, Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this afternoon said he presented legitimate documents to the King to proof that he had members of Parliament supporting him.

He said the King would now go through the documents over the next couple of days and subsequently would call party leaders to obtain their input.

The Agong cannot however be advised by the Leader Of The Opposition, and certainly the Leader Of The Opposition cannot say that the Agong is under any obligation to "go through the documents over the next couple of days and subsequently...... call party leaders to obtain their input."
