This kind of behaviour from judges will be familiar to Malaysian journalists and lawyers who lived through the era of Malaysian Chief Justice Eusoffe Chin. The only difference seems to be that Australian lawyers and judges actally believe that their seemingly clever formulation of words can change public perception. Eusoffe at least understood that the public could not be fooled.
