Cardinal Parolin who engineered Vatican's deal with China may not be corrupt, but repeated instances of poor judgement suggest that Pope Francis should renegotiate Parolin's China deal

The Pope is seen as surrendering the faithful in China to the Communist Party

In an interview aired tonight in Australia the Vatican's former treasurer George Cardinal Pell spoke frankly of financial mismanagement at the Vatican. He also spoke of corruption, and was clear that the Secretary of State ,Cardinal Petro  Parolin was "not corrupt".

He said so despite Parolin and Pope Francis approving an acquisition that he had opposed, and in which the Vatican lost a great deal of money. Pell is not the only Cardinal who has questioned Parolin's judgement. In December last year Cardinal Joseph Zen, the former Bishop Of Hong Kong  who continues to oppose the Vatican's recent deal with China said:

“I have a clear impression that Parolin is manipulating the Holy Father,” Zen told New Bloom Magazine in a recent interview.
“It’s a real mystery how a man of the Church, given all his knowledge of China, of the Communists, could do such a thing as he’s doing now”.
There is little in the China deal that is to the advantage of the Catholic faithful. Indeed, as Cardinal Zen put it, the faithful risk becoming “complete slaves” to the state-backed Patriotic Church.

Worse, the details of the  deal are being kept secret.
